Day 1 - Lisbon

Lisbon, Portugal: Set on seven hills on the banks of the River Tagus, Lisbon has served as the capital of Portugal since the 13th century. The city is renowned for its majestic architecture, traditional wooden trams, Moorish influences, and a rich tapestry of over twenty centuries of history. After devastating earthquakes in the 18th century, Lisbon was thoughtfully rebuilt by the Marques de Pombal, resulting in an elegant urban landscape with broad boulevards and a stunning riverfront square, Praça do Comércio. Today, Lisbon fuses modernity with tradition, offering excellent shopping experiences alongside cultural and historical explorations in the Old Town, beautifully perched on the terraced hillsides.

Day 2 - Portimão

Portimão, Portugal: A bustling fishing port that has seen significant development in recent years, Portimão has blossomed into an appealing cruise destination. The spacious city boasts several attractive shopping streets, although recent economic challenges have left some traditional retailers shuttered. Alongside shopping, Portimão’s lovely riverside area, dotted with plenty of coastal cruises, invites leisurely strolls. A visit would be incomplete without enjoying an alfresco meal at the Doca da Sardinha, where one can savour the local specialty of charcoal-grilled sardines with fresh bread, simple salads, and local wine.

Day 5 - Funchal

Funchal, Madeira, Portugal: Madeira, formed by a volcanic eruption and nestled in the Gulf Stream around 500 miles west of Casablanca, was discovered by the Portuguese explorer João Gonçalves Zarco in 1419. Originally named for the lush woodlands that covered the island—‘Madeira’ means ‘wood’ in Portuguese—the island was initially enriched by sugar plantations. The subsequent exclusive trade agreement for Madeira wine with England and its colonies brought British emigrants to Funchal. Visitors today are drawn to Madeira’s diverse and sumptuous landscape, from vine-covered mountains to picturesque villages adorned with a riot of wildflowers. Dubbed ‘The Floating Garden of the Atlantic,’ ‘The Island of Eternal Springtime,’ and ‘God’s Botanical Gardens,’ Madeira's beauty is undeniable.

Day 16 - Bridgetown

Bridgetown, Barbados: Situated beside the island’s sole natural harbour, the capital of Barbados is a charming blend of modern and colonial architecture set against the backdrop of stunning palm tree-lined beaches. Visitors can immerse themselves in the relaxed local culture and explore historical attractions, including British-style parliament buildings, the Anglican church, and the 19th-century Barbados Garrison. The city’s vibrant beach life and rich history offer an invigorating experience.
